OUTCOMES RESEARCH
  _

There is clear consensus that research and available knowledge need to be intimately and intelligently linked to CME learning objectives and ultimately to high level outcome analysis. The translation of education to patient care is the practice of medicine; how well CME works—its outcomes—is critically important to the quality of health care in our nation and around the world.

Measuring Educational Impact
Outcomes analysis adds value in the following ways:

* Documenting educational activity effectiveness
* Did the activity result in changes in learner physician behavior, compared to controls and as compared to prior to the activity?
* Documentation that the activity results in endpoints consistent with regulatory guidelines
* Monetary support was used wisely
* Opportunities for publication
* Feedback to the target audience and learners
* Providing information that can be used to build client relationships
* More actively engaging learners

Custom Studies, Expert Analysis
Vindico Medical Education collaborates with a third-party vendor of outcomes research to achieve Level 3 and 4 Outcomes. The outcomes research provider utilizes various methodologies to assess outcomes following a CME activity. The methodologies selected depend on the educational activity, availability of data elements, and level of outcome analysis desired.

Vindico Medical Education, in conjunction with the outcomes research provider, and dependent upon the needs of the grantor will provide:

* Statistical analysis of the effect of the CME activity(ies)
* Dedicated physician project management
* Medical advisory board oversight
* University-based statistical expertise
* Case vignettes, questions and analysis
* Data collection techniques
* On-site professional interviewers, chart reviewers, analysts, consultants
* Identification, recruitment, and analysis of control cohort (non-participant) groups
* Data analysis
* Any incentives for generating responses in participant and non-participant populations
* An Executive Outcomes Analysis Report

Vindico Medical Education’s outcomes research provider uses case vignettes and/or professional chart review to assess the outcomes of CME activities. Due to the complexities involved for each model, and the need for detailed direction from each grantor, a price quote for this service will be provided upon request.
