Overview

Educational Goals and Objectives

Vitreoretinal specialists are now being faced with many new diagnostic and treatment modalities. The goal of this exciting and fast paced 5-day course is to present the latest information on recent advances in treatment for posterior segment disorders. Retina 2008 will emphasize the rational integration of those advances into everyday clinical practice.

A renowned faculty has been assembled to present this information in both formal lectures and informal discussions. Faculty and attendees will discuss challenging cases, new therapy and imaging techniques and surgical strategies in a relaxed setting.

At the conclusion of this activity, attendees should be able to:

  • Discuss the pathogenesis and treatment of dry age-related macular degeneration; provide insights on nutritional therapy, imaging techniques and new medications
  • Discuss the use of anti-VEGF agents, as well as optimal dosing strategies, for the treatment of choroidal neovascularization in age-related macular degeneration
  • Provide a review of the latest developments in vitreoretinal surgery technology, drug delivery and artificial vision
  • Review new developments in the management of retinal detachment in both adults and children
